Here we are at last, after 5 months spent in Asia, a radical change of landscape, lifestyle and especially culture!

Our arrival is in Auckland, the capital of the country where a rental car is waiting for us. Taking advantage of Thailand’s low prices, we bought a cooler, a gas stove, plates, cutlery, bowls, glasses and pots! All we had to do was take the car and get on the road.

During our stay on the North Island, we covered 2000kms, parachuted over, visited hobbiton (the hobbit village in the Lord of the Rings), visited WETA studios (which made most of the weapons, costumes, Lord of the Rings scenery and others), did a one-day trek in Tongariro National Park (see below) and most importantly enjoyed the landscapes that New Zealand offers.

Tongariro Alpine Crossing:

This is the name of the hike.

It should be noted that the peaks surrounding this hike are volcanoes, one of which is still active.

Nevertheless, we were able to see the famous emerald lakes and the blue lake at the top of the northern crater, the red crater.
